During this summer of upheaval and re-invention,, my wife thought I was crazy adding a running photo contest to my tasks of updating 2 blogs, 3 facebook pages, mowing the lawn, re-inventing my photography career, riding my horse, tending my herd, trying to enjoy the summer…….
I have to say it wasn’t that much work, and I had lots of fun. I love looking at other peoples photos, and seeing what people will present when given an assignment. I really like the whole social media image exchanges, and other than some serious copyright issues from time to time (please don’t use other peoples photography without permission!), the photo contest simply became something else for me to look forward too!
I appreciate all the entries (there were 63) and all the voting that took place. I also think you guys got it right!
The winner, with 29 total votes, was a photo by Marnie Jones, of Fenway Bartholomule.
I’m not sure who to thank here, because Fenway seems to speak for himself, but Marnie Jones was the one who entered. They can fight over what the prize will be.; they can pick any image I have posted on my facebook site, or out here at my blog, and I will deliver them a framed print.
I have decided, as king of the contest, to award 2 more prizes.
Two last minute entries from Stephanie Arpey of All the Right Angles received the most votes for one contestant when added together, and probably got the most comments. You all remember this one.
And although I said there would be no participation trophies, I have to take my hat off to Larry Taase. Larry was the only the only male entrant and he took the time to comment on almost every shot, and was the first to vote on many. It’s always nice to get some nods when competing, and Larry made sure everyone got a bit of recognition.
Both Stephanie and Larry can go out to my Etsy site and pick one shot from my collections.
Hope everyone who entered had fun. I’ll be announcing the theme of the Where’s Mr. Peabody Photo Contest Number 2 in the next day or so. Can’t wait to see what comes in this time!
